Bread is perhaps the most common item for breakfast around the world. Even in India, a slice of bread has replaced the traditional regional foods for breakfast. I cannot think of my busy weekdays mornings without bread, which you can just bake and have it with a spoon of butter or jam. I must admit that since my childhood I have been a big fan of a crunchy toast with lots of butter and sugar on top of it and the love affair continues till date. However, with growing age I am trying to cut down the amount of consumable butter and sugar. 🙂
Sometimes I also get bored with bread toasts. Luckily, plenty of options for cheeses are available in the market which tempts me to carry out experiments with mundane breakfasts with breads. And here I am with a quick, easy and delicious ‘Bread Pizza’ recipe with capsicum, tomato, herbs like oregano and basil and grated cheese . I am pretty sure that kids will love it too. It can also be served as snacks anytime in the day.
Ingredients to serve 2 :
- White Bread – 4 slices
- Onion – 1 (small)
- Capsicum – ½
- Tomato – 1 (small)
- Tomato sauce – 4 tbspoon
- Butter – 1 tbspoon
- Grated cheese – 100 gm.
- Dry oregano – ½ teaspoon
- Dry basil leaves – ½ teaspoon
- Chilli flakes – 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper powder – 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Olive oil – 1 tbspoon
Procedure :
Finely chop the onion.
Cut the capsicum into tiny pieces.
Cut the tomato into two halves, remove the seeds inside and then finely chop.
Now in a bowl make a mixture with onion, capsicum, tomato, oregano, basil, chilli flakes, salt and olive oil.
Now spread 1 tbspoon tomato sauce on each bread slice.
Spread the vegetable mixture equally on 4 bread slices.
Finally make the top layer with generous amount of grated cheese and sprinkle black pepper powder.
Now melt ½ tbspoon of butter on tawa over medium flame.
Place 2 bread slices on the tawa. Put the flame on low and cover the tawa with a lid.
Cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts well.
Repeat the same procedure for remaining 2 bread slices.
Then transfer the bread pizzas on serving plate and cut diagonally.
Note :
- Try to chop the vegetables as finely as possible so that they get cooked properly between the short time span.
- Also use that kind of cheese which melts fast.
- Put the flame on low while making the pizza otherwise the bread will burn from lower side.
